Hi, I'm Martin
Licensed Massage Therapist. Former athlete. Someone who gets it.
I didn't get into massage therapy because I wanted to work at a spa. I got into it because I understand what it's like when your body won't cooperate—when pain changes how you move through the world, and you're tired of people not really listening.
Why I Do This Work
For over 30 years, I pushed my body hard as an athlete—baseball, softball, wrestling. I know what it means to recover, to rehab, to keep showing up even when something hurts. I also spent 20 years in customer service, which taught me something crucial: people just want to be heard.
When I became a Licensed Massage Therapist, those two worlds came together. I could combine hands-on skill with the ability to really listen—to understand not just where it hurts, but how it's affecting your life.
This work matters to me because I've been on your side of the table. I know what it's like to need help and not know where to turn. I know what it's like when someone finally understands what you've been dealing with and has the skills to do something about it.
My Approach:
No BS, Just Results
Here's what you won't get from me: upselling, rushing, or one-size-fits-all treatments.
Here's what you will get: someone who listens to what your body is telling us, applies therapeutic techniques that actually work, and treats you like a person—not a number on a schedule.
I specialize in trigger point therapy and deep tissue work because that's where real change happens for chronic pain and dysfunction. But every session is built around what you need that day. Your body knows what it needs. My job is to listen and respond with skilled, intentional work.
What's in a Name?
Pronounced "AH-num"
Anam is an Irish word meaning "soul" or "spirit." In Gaelic tradition, it represents the essence of who you are—the part of you that's more than just physical.
I chose this name because I believe real healing happens when we care for the whole person. Your pain isn't just mechanical. It's connected to stress, posture, movement patterns, and how you've been treating your body (or how it's been treating you).
When you come to Anam Massage Therapy, you're not just getting muscles worked on. You're getting care that recognizes you're a whole human being trying to feel better and live fully.
It's a name that reflects how I work: with intention, respect, and a belief that your body—your anam—deserves thoughtful, compassionate care.
Training & Experience
I stay current with continuing education because the field keeps evolving, and so should I. Your body deserves someone who takes this work seriously.

Why Choose an Independent Therapist?
You've probably seen the big-name massage chains. Maybe you've even been to one. Here's the difference:
Consistency
When you book with me, you get me—every time. Your body doesn't have to re-explain itself to a rotating cast of therapists.
Time & Attention
I'm not on a factory schedule. Sessions start on time, run their full length, and aren't rushed to squeeze in the next appointment.
Personalized Care
Your treatment plan evolves based on what's working. No corporate scripts, no pressure to buy packages you don't need.
Accountability
This is my business, my reputation, my name on the door. That means I'm invested in your results in a way that employee #47 at a chain just isn't.
You deserve better than conveyor-belt massage therapy. You deserve someone who cares.
An Athlete's Perspective
Thirty-plus years of baseball, softball, and wrestling taught me a few things:
How to push through discomfort (and when not to)
What real injury recovery looks like
How muscle imbalances show up in performance
Why maintenance matters as much as treatment
This background shapes how I work with athletes—but it also helps me understand anyone dealing with physical challenges. Whether you're training for competition or just trying to get through your workday without pain, I get it.
Your body is your vehicle for everything you do. Let's keep it running right.
What Matters to Me
Honesty
I'll tell you what I think will help—and what probably won't. No false promises, no miracle cures. Just straight talk.
Respect
Your body, your boundaries, your comfort level. You're in control. I'm just here to help.
Results
You're not paying me to make you feel good for an hour (though that's nice too). You're paying me to help you feel better long-term. That's what I'm focused on.
Beyond the Treatment Room
When I'm not working with clients, you'll probably find me staying active, spending time with family, or still involved in athletics in some way—old habits die hard.
I live in Buffalo, work in Buffalo, and care about this community. When you support Anam Massage Therapy, you're supporting a local, independent business—not a corporate franchise. That matters.
